Does anyone know how to remove the squeaking cover at the gear shift so felt can be applied? I would like to do this myself rather take my Rogue in for a service visit.

Did youget the noise back at all? I just got a rogue two weeks ago and noticed the squeak today. I thought it was from the windshield area, but it could be the shifter as you mentioned. What dealer was it? I live in the Canton area and may as well take it where you did. Thanks.

Hope this helps everyone out. See attached pics. The removal tool is nothing more than a wide flat blade (ie. putty knife). Cover it with some electrical tape to prevent scratches. Pry from the front (closest to the HVAC controls), the rear is held by pawls which can break if forced.

Hint: Get the FSM and you will get this and just about every bit of info on serviceing and repairing the Rogue.

Nissan has just released a service bulletin NTB08-031 regarding gear shifter squeak. The procedure is similar to what poster DCAB136 wrote above.
