Hey guys, What kind of gear oil should I be using to minimize the knocking sounds and to maximize protection on old synchros.. (I think they're pretty much done... I sense something when shifting ) Keep in mind that I live in Canada and that Red line is out of the question because of that... Might be really hard to find. What else could I be using ?

Thanks a lot !!

I know a guy that used mobil 1 gear oil and he was pretty satisfied with it. Try that stuff, but make sure you drain as much of the old oil out as you can. I discovered that you have to make the car tilt back a little in order to really drain the transmission.

try royal purple available at NAPA, or try NEO. they are a step above mobil 1 synthetic and are on equal grounds with redline. I hope those are available in canada. getting all the gear oil out might be tricky. try discocting the drive shaft and lifting up the front end???

oh and according to the movie matilda "a little sawdust" will quiet the transmission down if your trying to sell it.
