A few days ago I cranked up my car and it wouldn't shift outta PARK to REVERSE no matter how hard I moved the shifter. I had to pull open the little button by the shifter called the "SHIFT LOCK RELEASE".
Once I moved the little chrome piece out of the way, I used a screwdriver to push down in the hole so I could shift from PARK. Once it gets down to REVERSE I can shift to the other gears normally. When I want to shift back up past NEUTRAL to get to PARK or REVERSE, I have to push down in that hole again!
I get to and from where I need to go but I can't leave it like this! I have no clue what made this happen and I was told that there is a switch behind the brake that makes the shift lock unlock when u push the brake but it's not doing it anymore. Is this true? Why is this happening and how can I fix it?!?!??!
