First of all, if you don't know what a torque plate is, it's something that it bolted to the block to simulate the distortion that the head creates on the block when the block is being bored out so that you have perfectly round cylinders when the motor is assembled.

OK, so I found a company that would make a torque plate for the CA. How this would work is I would pay for the up front cost of the plate, and then rent it out to whomever needed it. I would charge a refundable deposit price plus the rental price.

What do you think?

take a junk head (DET or DE) and machine it to be a torque plate. That's always been my idea.

but a true torque plate would be sick!

we did this in class and when unbolting the torque plate after a bore/honing the cylinder walls moved .003"!! is was crazy watching the bore gauge move as we unbolted it.

Hmmm, cutting up a junk head is a good idea. I wonder how it would compare in distorting the head?

If I get a true torque plate made, what do you guys think a fair rental price is?

all depends on how much shipping that heavy a** plate would cost... we'd have to pay for shipping both ways so....
