I am gauging interest on a few products my friends and i are developing. For anyone not worried about installing a car stereo in their 240 or want to fill up the space below the radio, we have come up with a plate in single din and double din size that would have holes for mounting whatever you want to put in that spot. It could be things like gauges, turbo times, boost controllers or similar items. It would come in the original ABS material or vinyl wrapped in your choice of color. I will post up some images of some prototypes that we have of the Gauge Pods/Plates. We don't have any pricing on it yet as we are still working on a final blank plate design. Current design is for the S14 only. Anyone interested in these products for an S13 may contact me for prototyping information for the S13. Here are 3 different layouts of the Double Din Gauge Pod Prototype. Two of these feature 52mm gauges and the one sporting the triple gauge layout is designed for 50mm gauges. These are only prototypes and are not the final blank plate design... Layouts can be customized to suit your needs or desires.

The prototype for the double din design is posted above in the pictures. The actually design is blank and customized to suit your needs. We are still working up a price.

Here are some more Prototypes. These car fit either as a Single Din or in the HVAC Controls spot. I would think that these would fit both the S14 and S13. Hopefully this weekend i can mockup the double din with some gauges and put it into my car and take some pictures so that people can see what it looks like inside the car.

This is what it looks like installed in the car. This is the draft version that we already had created. The design as changed a little bit since we printed this one up. Image

Pretty cool, I may be interested as well. I like the possibility of customization, and that you've made provisions for things like boost controllers and turbo timers.

PS, a prototype is a physical, working item, built for testing puposes. So I'm with pepesilvia, and would very much like to see a prototype once you get one made, and see it mocked up in any S chassis :dblthumb:

EDIT - you snuck it in when I was typing this - now THAT's a prototype :bigthumb: good start, like to see the updated version widgy'd into place when you get one made.

my only problem is that i am going by measurements i have taken in my S14. I don't have an S13 to measure whenever i want so i am hoping that what works in my car would work for the S13 as well.

its looks pretty damn good in the car. i think itd look better where the hvac controls are, also it'll probably be more useful and less eye-straining up where the hvac controls are. but thank you for putting up a prototype so we can have a reference. :bigthumb:

edit: this is the jdm OEM gauges that fit into the HVAC spot....

if you could make something like this i'd be VERY interested

I want to relocate my HVAC controls to one of the din slots and put gauges where the HVAC was. Make that happen and I'd beore interested. Putting them down by the stereo makes them hard to see.

I don't see why we couldn't do it. The one in the picture could be a test run. This thread is gauging interest :) so if you want something say it in this thread! That way we know what y'all want made. We have to start somewhere though.

I will be working on the HVAC location this weekend. Since i have to take apart my dash anyway. I will also work on a HVAC relocation plate for the double din spot

How'd this go? I've made a makeshift gauge holder in the climate control slot. 52mm gauges fit inside the slot, but the faces and bezels do not. I've also purchased a couple different controls from other models to see what fits best in the DIN.

We are still working on it. At the moment we are increasing the printing size of the printer.
