The connecting rod is under pressure at all angles during the power stroke and no undue bearing wear results. It takes a collapse of the oil film and contact between the bearing and crank to spin a bering and that is RPM or oil delivery based. I have seen many a melted piston, a couple of my own unfortunately and never seen bearing damage to go with.

Here is a picture from a tear down of my buddies turbo SHO. It was detonating before he cracked a ring land. Check to see where the wear is. There was NO oiling problem in this car.

Yeah I still have it. It's still in good condition, I didn't have any problems with it while I was driving on it. My clutch grabbed fine on it as well. 60 shipped.
