As most of you know by now, I have been in a quandary ever since I wrecked my Q. Well, I am buying the car back from the insurance company - for one of 2 purposes - either to fix it (damn I miss that car!!!) or to part it out and salvage some components for my '92 Maxima.

So, here is the deal - I saw a post last week where someone had had a black Y33 that had been sideswiped and needed replacement doors - things like that.

Not being a mechanic myself, I would obviously need to enlist someone's help in removing some of the larger pieces, but audio I can do on my own - but audio is also being transferred to the Maxima. But, I basically have 1 month to either part it out or I have to sell the car for whatever I can get for it. *but* if there is strong enough interest, and I can make enough, I am willing to part it out.

Interior is nearly spotless, and is black, exterior was that arctic white color. I have pics hosted don a webserver, and I can repost them here if anyone *really* desires, but otherwise you can look at these two posts:

these are the damage picshttp://forums.nicoclub.com/zer...60470

these are the pics showing the condition of the rest of the carhttp://forums.nicoclub.com/zer...60478

The high mileage is the problem with buying and fixing the car, the pictures in the other thread just don't look like a badly hurt car. Go to http://car-part.com/ and do a pull on the hood ( I just did, not many ) and other parts you need, this car would not take much to fix!!

Anyone think those seats would fit in a 92 G50 by chance?

John, is there any way you can rip the hood off and see what kind of damage lies beneath??? Im wondering if theres any radiator support damage... Otherwise, it doest even look like you need a new front bumper, just some lights, fender and hood.... Being in the Q mecca of the states you shouldnt have any troule finding good prices on those parts.

John, from the pics the damage does not look too bad. The rest of the car looks perfect. If I were in your situation I would definitely save her.Vandi.

If the alignment is not affected, I would urge you to consider the $2K or so required to make it perfect again.

I really appreciate all of the advice - I guess the next thing I am going to do is post the damage listed by the body shop, along with rates, etc, to fix it all - I already have a deal worked out where if I can fix the car for under $4K (I lowered it to $3K) then I am going to do it - even my family agrees - my folks just purchased a new 2006 M35, and I am driving their ancient '92 Maxima, and both understand now why I fell in love with the Q as I did - there is simply no comparison between the Infiniti lines and the Nissan lines.

I am trying to move the car tomorrow, and from there I will do my best this weekend to rip the hood off and get more detailed pics.

Deepsouthq - I am not using them regardless - because I put in an aftermarket alarm, so those keyfobs are useless to me all around - if I get the car fixed the alarm goes back in, and if not the car gets parted out - so it is a win win situation for you.

Folks, how much is good for the keyfobs, including shipping?

And is there any way I can PM deepsouthq or so I simply have to post my email in a way that cannot be harvested by the stupid bots?

Elwesso - yes, extensive radiator / rad support damage - the top support needs to be replaced, as will (probably) the rigt front fender as the impact was pretty much centered right there and the fender is cracked on the mount point to the rad support....

I will get extensive pics tomorrow detailing the damage to the structure, as much as I can as I can't get the radiator out of the way without some assistance.

I don't know what to ask for it - I have an offer for the engine and transmission via email already too.... - of course all parting out is contingent upon me not fixing it back up....

Same - if I part it out I will let you know. I also have no idea what I should be asking in terms of price, so....

OK, I have no idea what to charge for a complete car in the condition that it is in, and I don't think *I* can get ti fixed simply because I cannot to most of the work that needs to be done in any way manner or fashion. I have offers to sell engine / transmission and some components from the interior, but what is a fair price? prices rivaling those at carparts.com, or what? I am so confused, and yet I am afraid that if I open it up to what people offer I will get gypped.

Man, you need to have prices in place by now. Throw prices of what you think is honest and fair. If it works out financaly, you're set.

Y33 parts arent in as high of demand as most G50 parts, FWIW.

Thanks Wes. I never even thought of doing that - funny, because I always compare prices on eBay by looking for them retail - strange how it never occurred to me.

Thanks!
