I found some plans in the Q45 forum for an Aux-in adapter that will allow you to hook up a generic audio source through the CD-changer link on the back of the Bose HU. The adapter was designed for Maximas, but it looks like it should work with the J30 Bose HU (Clarion PP-2083I). I am planning to try building one myself, and I wanted to gauge other peoples' interest in it. Would anyone else be interested in buying the adapters if I built em? I think around $25 + actual shipping. Just for reference, if your Bose HU looks like this in the back, it should work. (the white plug is the CD changer hookup)

Hah, ok you've got me there. Doesn't mean it's useless. Still a very nice sounding system. Just gotta memorize the button->station mappings.....which you really don't need anyway if you have your ipod hooked up.

Mine works fine and I use the tape deck to play MP3s. I am interested since the deck only offers analog quality sound (but it is pretty good).

I might be interested. I'm not sure what the back of my HU looks like, though, because I haven't gotten around to pulling yet (I plan to upgrade eventually). I have a 97 J, anyone know if it would work for me? It would be a great option to use until I do upgrade the system.

Oh yeah, my HU still works perfectly!

Would this allow a MP3 player to be directly hooked up to the BOSE system?

If so, count me in!

I'd be interested...since my tape deck quit working after I used an adapter in it, and my FM modulator isnt the best sounding piece in the world. I have the same light problem as well though...but only when I have the headlights on.

Just an update--I have ordered all the parts and will probably be creating a prototype next week. If all goes well, I will start taking orders by end of next week.

Alright can you explain what this is going to do?

Might help you get a few more buyers for those who aren't audio experts

Sorry guys. I've gotten pretty busy lately and haven't had a chance to work on this little project yet. The schematics are not as simple as you'd expect them to be for such a seemingly straightforward device. You can check the schematics yourself here:

I will post an update as and when I make some progress. Again, sorry for the delay, but things have gotten pretty busy here.
