i looked through the search, but i like real-time feedback. i am wanting to know how hard (in general) it is to change gauges. any special tools needed, it is for a 91. thanks:ylsuper

stock guages or aftermarket guages?

http://www.lsauto.com has a good read up on how to removed your gauge bezel. All you should need are some sockets and a phillips head

That gauge cluster is the ****ing devil to take out. I finally cut mine out :cool:

hey thanks a lot tenkawa....much help....VERY nice ride man. there is a 94 black 240 here on a lot that has been there for over 4 years, dont know why.

I never did figure out the "right" way to take it out, I just plain couldn't get the trim around it to clear the steering column, so I cut the trim in half. I'll just epoxy it back together and paint over the joints black when I put it back together. I have since heard you can drop the whole steering column, if I get new trim at the jy this weekend, I might try that.

yeah. two bolts tucked up behind the steering colum will drop it out.

i haven't seen a black '94 roaming here lately. I know demCJ has a black '93

so you need to drop the steering column in order to get to the cluster, the walk through at Isauto didnt show that.

your rithg it did, i have replaced the plastic cover before and i assumed it was along the same lines. this is going to be my monday project. i also want to if i can fix my speedometer, it jumps around, then works then jumps again, never know when it is going to work so i just go off the rpm

sounds like the speed sensor in the transmission may be malfunctioning.

dont tell me that, i want it to be a easy fix. it just cant be easy right. whatever happened to the cable?

taking the gauge cluster out isn't that hard..i've had mine out a few times now.i can change a bulb out in like 10 minutes start to finish.
