I just got a set of electrical gauges. It is personal preference really. But here are some simple +/- for both, others feel free to chime in.

electricalProsEasy to Install, run some wiresSlightly "safer" (no hot oil flowing in and out of cabin)

ConsRequires more wiring; sensor, gauge power, lighting (config differs on some gauges)Often come in only 90°-sweeps

mechanicalProsMore accurateLess expensive for full(270°)-sweep

ConsRun oil lines through firewall and inside cabin, better hope you got them tight.

I agree, electronic is a bit more expensive but they are easy to install, no oil lines in the cabin as stated before. I dont think any of us realy need a super accurate gauge most of the full sweep electric gauges should be very high quality. I have autometer cobalt series and am very happy with them the oil pressure gauge is awsome with the full sweep you can see the needle dancing even with the slight fluctuations of idle.

I have a electric oil pressure and a mechanical water temp... mix and match! mechanical is more accurate... but i dont want hot oil going to my cabin, water temp is easy tho... just a sensor

i have a boost and oil mechanical gauge, if you install the oil mechanical gauge right the oil line will not break. i use the nylon tubing kit. i looked at a electrical oil pressure gauge and a mechanical gauge, and the mechanical oil gauge responds faster than the electrical gauge.

is a super accurate oil pressure that reads the oil pressure in milli-seconds really nessicary?

Mayebe. If your your oil pump chain broke, you might have a chance to cut off the motor before all you oil pressure was lost and possibly save your engine.
