Hey guys, I got a 2000 Nissan Maxima and the other day my gauges died, the rpm bounces a tad, the speedometer rpm and coolant temp do nothing, since it stopped working i been getting a vss code and a fuel level code, I know the sensor are not bad and the faulty cluster is causing this, Before i Buy another cluster and solder in the old mem chip for milage I was told there is a mosfet like part on the circuit board thats wrapped in a heatsink and that item is the cause of the malfunction, Is there any truth to this ? Can anyone chime in or should i just get a used cluster and go from there?

Its a D2139 Transistor.

So since no one chimed in i just went and bought a used one from car-parts.com for $35 , says its Grade A shape, i just need to swap the little 8 pin IC chip to have it show the correct milage.
