I think it's pretty cool, i would do it, but it's one of those things that cannot be undone.

Even a bad tatoo can be erased pretty easily nowadays. Gauged ears are for life. Dont wanna catch my ears on everythig when im old and uncoordniated.

thats false. any size will close back up. i believe its up to a 4 that will close completely. anything larger will leave a slit kinda thing. and that all depends on the person of course. my buddy had a 0 in high school and you cant tell that he ever had his ears pierced.

I had a friend who gauged his ears. And he said they do smell if you don't clean out the ear/gauge device at least once a day.

LOl didn't know that they closed. All i have seen is on the Discovery channel with tribes of people who gauge their ears crazy. And when they take them out it just hangs like old titties. Just assumed that's how they would stay.

Just some 8 gauge copper titanium hoops or aqua ones that I wear. I don't think I'd ever go bigger than 6 or 4. Definitely past the point of no return there...

i had 9/16'' i let them close up now it's a size 4 i think.

if you gradually wear a small size to trick your body it'll be more effective at closing.

they smell because of the dead skin build up.

And not washing one's ears or cleaning their jewelry regularly.

I have had an 8 for a long time now and decided to go up to a six. Did it and they got horribly, horribly infected. Took them out and now they've grown back up to like a normal size earring. Gonna have to start all over again. And yes they reek like hell if not cleaned daily. Only if you take them out though, you can't smell it if you leave them in. I think I'm gonna go push my 8s back through after reading this thread.

I don't understand for what reasons anyone would want a big a** hole in their ear, but being as it's your ear and not mine, carry on...

lol yeah they do smell if you dont clean them everyday. Mine are pretty big and will probably not close. My gauges are 3/4 inch. I dont regret them at all and my job dosent care about them, the only down side is its a b***h taking a helmet off.

I had mine as large as 0 gauge. I took em out for work a long time ago. Theres no mistaking now that my ears are pierced (but I had 2 in my left lobe and 3 in the right, plus several in my cartilage) but the holes are barely big enough to fit 16 gauges in. I still wear some easily removable pieces every once in awhile. In general I'm a lot more conservative with my appearance than I was when I first got the piercings (13 years ago), but that just goes with the territory.

I have been wearing 00 for about two years now. They WILL close up. 0g is about the limit that your body will naturally close the hole completely. They DO smell if you don't clean both the jewelry and ear regularly. Wood and bone plugs seem to not smell nearly as bad as the metal jewelry.

If you decide to gauge your ears go VERY slowly. I only moved one size every almost two months. If you go too quickly of force the next biggest size in your ears will tear. Once your ear has torn it will take a long time to heal and the more times you tear it the less likely it is to totally close if you decide to take the plugs out. When you are changing sizes, do it after a nice long, hot shower; this will make your skin a lot more pliable which allows the new jewelry to go in much easier.

There are always going to be people that do not agree with it. I have never had any issues with interviews when it comes to any body modification with exception to my nose and tongue ring. Most jobs allow one earring per ear, plugs included.

foooooooooooooox any sort of permanent body modifications.

Even if I was so inclined, I could never do any of this s***. Not in my line of work, it would be an instant disqualifier.

I rock an 10, I want to go to an 8. The smell wafts like crazy after you shower if you don't clean them hahaha. I definitely heard that you can go to a 0 and it'll still heal up.

It got infected by only going up one size? How did you stretch it, with a rusty nail?

No, lol I used a taper. I don't know why they got infected, but they did. Everytime I try to go to a 6 they do this. It's like my body doesn't want to go any higher. So idk..

It's weird, I have never once had any desire to get a single piercing in my life, but I will pretty much get any tattoo without a second thought. Money is the only thing that keeps me from getting tattooed regularly.

I currently have mine at 1/2"They can stink if you don't wash them everyday and they should close to a small piercing again but probably not completly.

And with some clear ones in.

Putting sticks and stones in your ears is probably one of the stupidest things I have ever heard of. It serves absolutely NO fu*king purpose! TBH, I tried piercings out once when I was 16, and after I had one ripped out of my ear, I realized I only had one to try and look cool to others.

That would be the last time I ever tried any of that stupid sh*t.

^ Odd I put plastic or metal in my ears... I've had plugs ripped out of my ear before but they have never done any damage, just popped out. Were you wearing those huge a** fake diamond earrings I see most teenagers wearing now?
