Ok, whichever mod reads this first can delete my other two threads about the gauge light problems and gauge swap.First: I was changing the bulbs behind the gauges, all went well, until I wanted to turn the car back on. The check engine light stays on, that's the only one, none of the gauges work and the back lighting doens't come on when i turn on my headlights. When I turn on my bright lights, the gauge lights blink on and off. I checked every fuse I could find in my car,....I couldn't even find a fuse specifically saying gauge lights or anything. Ok, so I have no gauges, I can live. I was listening when the car shutoff tonight and I realized there was a constant clicking coming from under the hood. I popped one of the fuse boxes, and it was a relay? I guess that's what it's called, it wasn't a normal fuse. It was the 'relay' for the EGI...which I always thought was electronic gasoline injection..which scares me...yet my car keeps running fine...can anyone help me out here? with any of these problems..and suggestions or guesses are more than welcome and I will try them all~

Check all your fuses and there maybe some under the hood in one of the relay boxes. I can't remember for sure on that model. The fuses run several curcuits and they are not all labeled so it is best to check them all. You may have blown one when the connectors where hooked up incorrectly.

I changed over the lights in my gauge cluster as well, I haven't run into any problems like that but thinking back...

You didn't per chance pinch one of the harnesses when you reinstalled to cluster did you? There is one wire powering the lights in the cluster and it draws its power from the Illumination rheostat. Those I have heard do go bad at times. Hey you may have even bumped the knob turning down the lights.

The check engine light is a lil different. Did you cycle the key while the speedo head harness was unplugged? Are all the harnesses plugged in all the way? I am guessing but I think it could be a speed sensor code that was stored if you indeed damaged or didnt fully reinstall the gauge harnesses. I dont see a reason other than that. Changing bulbs usually doesnt wreak such havok.

Well good luck with it.

A cool mod that I did that you might like...

I tinted my speedo glass. I also installed white LED bulbs behind the guages and to top it off. I wired the gauge lights into my power mirrors so when I turn the key on the gauge lights automatically turn on. They are on when the car is on. Very Infiniti of me I think.:D

Did you by chance install a cd player or other unit? This was a big problem with everyone and i thought we had it solved, but i just got my car back after a year and a half, my ex stole it. I have the same problem again. The old trick you want to try is this. behind you cd player is a red wire with a yellow strip, actually ther is two of them. Only use one. Ground this wire then try your lights. It sounds to me that this may work for you. If not remove the kick panel that your interior box is behind. The entire panel. You will find a white box, This box controls your lighting and what not. If you hooked things up backward you could have blown this box check it out. One of these should get you rolling.

I have the same problem with my car which I just did a SOHC-->DOHC swap and this is driving me insane ... you can look up a post for the description of my problem (almost exactly the same) but no one has been able to help me with it yet. Goodluck and I'll be watching this thread, I hope you get it fixed.
