How important is having a name brand when buying gauges (boost, egt, ect.) Will an "ebay brand" gauge still be accurate like a greddy gauge would be? Or accurate enough? I know with some products it matters alot more than others. like i bought an ssac intercooler, but a garret turbo. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this. thanks

gauge is just a gauge.

I don't really see why i should buy expensive electronic type DEFI gauge when i can buy cheap mechanical Autometer boost gauge for 1/4 of the price.

Boost, Fuel Press, Oil Pres, Oil temp, Water temp, Volt. I have 6 autometer gauges and they work fine. plus I like mechanical type gauges more.

I'm not sure what ebay gauge you are talking about but, I'm assuming Autometer (which is fine)

At least buy autometer or megan racing. They are decent gauges. They should last a while. Defi and Greddy is for those who are stuck on name brand or are using cars for show. But those gauges should outlast the car being they are quality made... Should be no error with them ever.....

Don't be ****ing stupid. A gauge is very important when running your car. Would you want a cheap knock off telling you your running 8psi but really your engine is seeing 11?!?!?!?! Go right with the gauges to begin with so you don't have to worry about it later on. Here think of it this way, if you were laying in a hospital bed, would you want some cheap-*** ebay branded heart monitor and instrutments monitoring your condition?

Jeeez man chill out, hes a new guy!

Gauges are very important to the health of your motor, as I'm sure you are aware. What many of us who have done this before learn (usually through trial and error) is that you get what you pay for. With something as important as gauges, I would do my absolute best to buy the best I can afford. If you think about it, there really isnt that much difference in price between a $50 ebay gauge and a $130 autometer mechanical anyways. It seems silly to risk the thousands you spent on your motor in order to save a lousy 80 bucks.

More of what i was asking is if anyone has some different brand gauges and if they work right. The guages I was looking at cost more than autometer (still not as much as greddy tho). I'm not trying to be a cheap *** but i dont have the money to spend $800 on defi guages. one of the ones i was looking at are the gauges on daddysscp.com they go for about $70. I'm not trying to use cheap s*** but i would like to know if some of the less known brand gauges work well. Thank you to those offering helpful input

My two cents;

I have three Autometer gauges in my car and have had problems with two of them. My mechanical boost gauge is no longer accurate, it gets stuck at 10 psi, when I'm boosting over 12 psi as shown by my GReddy electronic boost controller.

My Autometer oil pressure sending unit also crapped out. Not a big deal, but I am dissapointed with the quality of Autometer guages.

They get the job done.....most of the time.

Greddy is a good standard to go by. My autometer gauge read about 3psi higher than what I was actually running for boost.... My oil pressure gauge was more hassle than it was worth.. The sender unit crapped... ect ect..

well ive been running my autometer gauges for a while (2 years +) and i havent had any issues with em. (oil pressure, volt, and the silly a/f) for boost, my blitz dtt reads it out digitally so that's another way to save some money by eliminating one more gauge to mount.
