I switched the needles on my gauge cluster from my white s13 needles to red S14 needles that came off my front clip. Now my gauges are all out of whack. When my car is parked, my MPH Needle is sitting at about 8mph and my RPM needle now idles at about 2200rpm. Also, my temp. needle is sitting dead center when the engine is cold. Could anyone please explain why this may be happening and possibly any way to fix it. Do I have to have my gauges re-calibrated?

Thanks for the help in advance.

P.S. I also switched my gauge cluster bulbs out to super-white PIAA units.

Maybe it's because you're using different needles that were designed for a different car.

Do you expect them to be universal?

I just replaced the plastic part (the needle itself), not the metal pin that the needle is place on. I understand that it is a "different" needle, but it seems like it should still work.

i know that the needles will stop at a certain point, so take off the cover and if you cant push them down easily you need to turn the needle on the pin so it sits at zero when you are stopped.

You're not supposed to play/remove the needles. I remember reading that somewhere along the forums from 94_240sx and he's a pretty knowledgeable guy.

Pull the needles back off and put them on the car in the right spot when its sitting at idle.

You probably have them clocked wrong
