so i bought a gauge face plate set off one of the vendors on this site, dont remember which one, and it came with instructions on how to swap out the old ones in the 240sx cluster with the new ones.

i remember it saying something about making the needles go into a certain spot, then someting else after that blah blah then when you put it back together you put needle back into the marked spot and it should be aligned properly..

but, go figure, i lost the directions, and the company didnt reply to my email, and i cant seem to find a thread that can answer my question.

can anyone help me?

I feel your pain, I did the exact same mistake on one of my other project car. (not a 240) So to make a long story short, when I put the needle back on my speedometer , and everything was put back together is when I realized that now my speedo is f%$#@d, it showed probably 15-20 km/h more than I was actually going while driving . So I took it apart again, and I used a set of needle nose pliers to twist the little pin (clockwise, about half a turn) before pushing the needle on it. That little pin has some sort of spring attached to it that makes it go down to 0 when decelarating, so when the spring is not under tension it dosent measure your speed acurately. Just make sure that your needle is pressed against the stoper with a bit of resistance and you should be fine. I got one of my buddies to drive beside me to make sure we are going the same speed.Good luck with the fix.

If they were from import intelligence, you can get the directions off their website. As far as swapping the faces, my dad tried to do it but he did the needles as well. Long story short, we couldn't get it to work out. I'm now running a stock cluster and the other one is sitting in my garage lol. Much easier, cheaper too. And it looks better imo.
