So I got my self a couple of gauges from Stri (boost and water temp) and for the "light source" I spliced into the wire that lights up the 12V output in the center console. Now when I dimm the cluster and all other light bulbs on the interior, shouldn't the gauges also dimm?

It won't unless you're tapped into the illumination wires(dimmer switch).

Yes, I wired my white face gauges into that and was going to wire my engine gauges into to so they won't be on all the time.
