gauge cluster freaking out!!

i just took out my gauge cluster because it was freaking out and put it back together but still freaking out the tachometer works perfect now but other gauges dont can it be the wires in the front engine where it connects to ecu?? engine is also a ka24de

There should be some good info here, it could be the cluster ground, it is common for most.

i am having a little trouble finding the ground can anyone provide schematics or take a pic of where it is??

i traced the wires to the ground cleaned it but unfortunatly it is still freaking out

You might wanna just get a new cluster

damn, it's opposite for me, mine everything works except the tach...it goes nuts constantly. havent been able to figure it out yet either.

My brothers car has the same problem. If you smack the dash the spedo will work only for a moment though. If you figure it out be sure to let us know.

ok so i took it apart and put a little oil on the spindle of each gauge works perfect now but might be because of the weather too when it was cold it wouldnt work today is a warm day and works perfect its either a bad ground or lose connection but the oil does helps greatly

Cool Ill try that. Im thinking the harness plug that plugs into the cluster may be defective. One time I found a wire that wasnt 'snapped' into the connector all the way. So when you plug in the connector the wire would back out of the plug.

Sweet you got it working. all mine work fine except the temp gauge will go to the red alot, and sometimes drops to cold...
