Gasoline Smells?

After running the car, its an 89' 240sx, and whiling its running, theres a smell of fuel around the car, its pretty strong and when you open the hood the smell is there too. Im wondering if this is normal for this year car and the mileage(150,000) or if something needs to be replaced,(i.e. fuel filter, etc.). thanks for the help.

check around the fuel injectors, see if they are leaking

Nope, checked around them already today didnt notice any leaks, tommorrow though I may clean around them to see better, but i doubt thats the cause, I think maybe its a hole in the exhaust system emitting the smell more, Idont fully know, but tommorrow Ill check, take apart things, whatever, any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks though.

wipe around the injectors with a Q-tip and smell it, it is hard to see a very little bit of gas leaking from them, but easy to smell it

good call. exhaust leak on rich car can smell of fuel but usually not raw fuel. usually would be burnt type of fuel smell. like old carb'd cars. injectors frequently leak on ka24e's. may be a rotten hose or something as they are quite old.

happened to me just two days ago but got it fixed. check your fuel injector and the fuel filter to see if it was leaking or not sealed completely

Bought some new parts and did a complete tune up. Good call on the leaky injector, i figured that would be it, one is leaking so ill change that in do time if not today, the exhaust though i do think has a hole in it of some kind, because of the noise it makes and the rattling sound you hear when you get off the gas from higher rpms, its a funny sound cant really describe, but im positive its exhaust related.
