Alright well i was wondering if i put 89plus gasoline in my car(a/c 2.5) would it mess it up??, or will it actually be better than 87regular??
I know this question might sound stupid to most of you guys out there..
but i was just wondering on it because i remember reading up on it, and saw if your car aint strong enough you get less power out of your car, where as if your motor is strong enough it acually benifits your car. It had to deal with something about knock?? cant remember..
but in other words is my car strong enough for 89plus where as it will benifit me??
(p.s got injen intake & stillen headers on the way, if that makes much of a differnce on my answer?)

a while back i did an informative little write up on fuel. it was in a post called premium fuel about 8pgs. back( dont know how to link it). that should answer your Q's on fuel and what it means and such. let me know if u have additional Q's and i will try to answer them ;)

on a side note- w/ my i/h/e combo, my service engine soon light came on in a day @ 87. w/ bullydog simple tune and running 89, it took like 6-10 days to go off. after premium tune on 91ish, i havnt had my CES light go off at all in the past few weeks.... knock on wood. which can only mean that the fuel is running clean enough to not trip anything. otherwise- if u dont want to run a higher octane.... dont lol.

yeah- i'll eventually do the 1/4 - or i could find a dead road and do the performance testing on the bd gt. idk lol- i tend to ease into first and plow the gas at like 3k rpm, and then slam it into 2nd. very rarely do i go to 2k, drop the clutch and go. lol. i'll do it one of these days and let ya'll kno lol

87/89 is not "bad stuff" and 91/93 is not "good stuff." Comments like that always point out the people who have absolutely no clue about the differences between octane ratings and what should or shouldn't be used for particular cars.

And you guys mentioning bad experiences with a tank of low octane and the problem going away after filling up with higher octane.... have you ever thought that the issue might be the gas station/gas itself??? Sometimes the gas might be diluted a little. This could be inadvertent because the fill lines flow mixed product or it could be purposeful because some stations try to cut their stuff for more profit. It is even simpler and more likely that the problems cans be attributed to a single bad batch rather than the whole slew of lower octane gas available 'not working right' for your car.

Im gonna go with no again. The type of fuel you use has nothing to do with that sensor. Your ses light will go off soon enough. My light went off after 5 miles and some times after 300.

Ask your self what code is being thrown and then see if it fits your theory of "which can only mean that the fuel is running clean enough to not trip anything".

These gas threads are so stupid. This is like the 195,999 thread and people still dont get it.

i read the thread about octane ratings many times and once again yesterday just to refresh my memory. i know there is really no reason to get 91 but it is just force of habit for me, i wouldnt go as far as to call it ignorance though...

the qr25de could run flawlessly on even unregulated low octane. im sure if you travel to some f*** country and fill up with 69 octane you would see no difference!
