i added a catch can to my engine a while back and during that time it never caught much, a little oil every couple hundred miles. Then I stopped driving the car for a couple months while I was away, although I would start it up and run it for a little every few weeks. Now that I'm driving it steady again, it has a pretty good amount caught in it just after a day of driving, its very liquidy and smells like gasoline. what could cause this?

Change your oil and filter, drain your catch. Start with that and keep an eye on the catch cans contents afterwards.

Do you have vaccum pulling on that can, and im assuming you have both intake and exhaust breathers running to it?

i got 2 lines t'd and check valved going to it, one from the intake tube and one from the valve cover. the catch can lines are set up to be under vacuum during boost and vacuum. My only fuel system mod is a walbro 190lph pump so running rich could be a factor, but how would it get into the catch can system? my only thought (hopefully wrong) would be slipping past piston rings into crankcase. I'll drain the oil and check that for fuel. I'm not sure what would've changed from not driving it because I made no changes and at first it was doing really good catch can wise, but a few months later its getting this fuel. runs great too, no signs of richness.

When your car runs filthy rich, it causes this condition. The gasoline rinses down your cylinder walls and get into the oil in your sump, so now when your engine spits-up oil, it's not just oil anymore hence the reason the stuff in your catch can smells like fuel.

I don't know what the problem is, but I want to see if it will catch on fire, does that help?

you wont see gas, the oil just smells like gas. can be from totally worn out rings and/or running very, very rich.

i would bet the injectors are a little gunked up from sitting so long. if you go rag on it you might cure a lot.

If you're mid grade is like it is here in KS, it should be 10% ethanol. If it is, fill up with that, don't get into boost too much, and run a tank full. The ethanol is great for cleaning out the fuel system.
