I have almost all the parts to swap a s15 hlsd into my car, and i gave the local nissan dealership to get the differential cover gasket as well as new oil seals. They told me the oil seals would cost 26 bucks each and that the gasket was no longer made nissan now recomends silicone. Can anyone verify this information? I really prefer to use gaskets when i can and this seems kinda steep for an oil seal.

If by oil seals you mean the side/axle seals, I picked mine up at the local dealership for $14 a piece. They can be purchased from online dealers for roughly the same cost after shipping. $26 a piece is insane even for a dealer.Check out mynismo.com (Performance Nissan), West Covina Nissan, Superior Nissan of Puente Hills. The gasket I was able to pick up from the local parts store. It is a Fel Pro gasket, paid under $10.You can use sealant by itself, however I personally am somewhat warry of that myself. You can take the pumpkin and the cover to a machine shop and have the surfaces "trued" though. Honestly, it's cheaper to just buy the gasket. Advanced Auto Parts.

Thanks, i'll look into that for the parts. The local dealership has quoted me some high prices before but i thought this was just too much.
