Virtually all gas stations in the USA now sell gas with up to 10% ethynol content. This however doesn't change the fact though that unless you own a "FlexFuel" vehicle ethynol isn't the best thing to put in your tank, but it appears we no longer have a choice. Manufacturers will honor warranties for ethynol related issues as long as the fuel being used contains no more than 10% ethynol. The problem that ethynol creates in most vehicles is that it attracts with and bonds to water molecules, so its basically like running your vehicle with a certain percentage of water in the fuel. Cars that are designed to run on ethynol or a significant ethynol/gasoiline mix incorporate fuel "dryers" into the fuel system to pull out the water. With the almost universal use of ethynol in gasoline today I've always wondered why no one offers these dryers for conventional internal combustion engines???
