Just did all the under plenum hoses, fuel, vacuum, crankcase ventilation, etc.. Took fuel rails off, pulled injectors and sent them off for cleaning. Just got it all put back together tonight, fired right up, a little boggy at first, but smoothed right out. Let it warm up while checking it out. Drove around for about 50 miles playing. Put her back in the garage, sat for about 15 min. Tried to restart her and wouldn't, tried to but then I noticed white smoke, like fog clinging to the ground...Wierd...Then noticed unspent fuel around exhaust on ground. ANYONE?? Bad lower orings on injectors?

$h^t, found fuel inside plenum... Taking it all apart. again... Bad fuel regulator diaphram?

Nevermind, found info here in forum...

More than likely one (or more) of the injectors wasn't seated properly and fuel is leaking past the lower o-ring. It's best to pull the fuel rail and plumb it up to pressure check with compressed air. If you haven't already it's also a good practice to clean up the o-ring mating surfaces in the rail cups that hold the injectors. Any debris left behind could cause a leak at the oring.

I did the same as you a few years ago after replacing an injector , driving about 10 miles and then having fuel gushing out the intake back to the air filter. Fortunately for me it didn't hydrolock and it was the #8 injector so it was easy to fix. Good luck.

Thanks Goody, unfortunately I think my motor may have hydrolocked... Heard a clunk noise, not good. I already have everything back off. My lower orings were all tore up. Not just one or two, but all of them. Maybe from pulling out again, but I doubt it. I had cleaned the rails the first time, but the injectors were a b**** to get in and I used 30wt oil to lube them for install. I just finished cleaning/polishing out the rails with a dremel, hopefully that helps.

I'm wondering if the lower orings were the wrong size, b/c they were all tore up, not just one or two. Monday I will tow the car into the shop and have them check the compression of each cylinder to check for damage. I'm praying my baby didn't bend or brake anything, but it is what it is... I just got my Z32 brake setup and was taking the calipers and rotors in for powdercoating, guess that might have to wait.

I just looked at the difference in orings, I had already got some from Infiniti, and indeed the lower orings they used are just a bit larger and thicker than OEM... Son of a b****!! Just installed the OEM orings upper and lower and they "popped" right in... I'm dreading what the mechanic might say.

The lower orings don't get torn up removing the injectors. It sounds like the wrong size orings were the problem. Hopefully no damage has been done to the engine.

Oh man I feel for you. I'm hoping for the best for your situation. My Q has been down over a year while I get off my butt to do the plenum hoses. Just wrapped them all up tonight.

I cleaned the rails out, not that they were very dirty, with brake cleaner spray. Then i wiped them down. Just make sure to use OEM orings. I liked these guys cleaning the injectors, $20 each, but make sure to use new OEM ONLY orings, not expensive. Otherwise you could be doing it all over again like I am. I'll know later tonight if everything checks out okay, got my fingers crossed...

I decided to check it myself... Don't see the point paying someone else to look at a gauge or check valves and springs. Besides, I don't trust hardly anyone anymore to work on my car, unless I can watch them the whole time.
