Gas Warning light is on...but there's plenty of fuel

As the title says, the gas tank warning light stays lit, even when I have plenty of gas. Also noticed a hissing sound (pressure being relieved?) when I removed the fuel cap once, but havent noticed it again. The light will also sometimes be off. Anyone know what it means? Does the light mean something else is wrong with my car? Car specifics are in my sig..any help greatly appreciated

does the gas gauge move when u fill ur tank? if not and urt tank is full check the pump it self it could possibly the sending unit on the pump(the floaty arm thing).

the pump can easly be reached my removing ur back seat a few bolts and shes out!
