does anyone know how to get your gas tank and trunk open if the buttons inside of the car will not work? Is it a fuse problem or something else. I dont want to take it to the dealership if I don't have to. thanks in advance.

Use your key to open the trunk. I think I read there is an emergency fuel door release in the trunk, but haven't verified it.

thanks car has been sitting for almost a week now and I really didnt want to send it to the dealership for them to just pop it open as easy as they would but then cost me in the long run.

If your key won't work either your latch is probably stuck. Try pushing up and down on the trunk lid while trying the key or while pushing your key fob remote control button. Eventually it may pop open. Then lube the latch mechanism. This fixed mine when I had the same problem.

Open up your glove box.

There is either a button or small toggle on one side (I can't remember), make sure its in the open position. It was a security feature in J's to prevent Valets getting into the trunk. I have inadvertandtly touched it and closed it in the past, preventing me from opeining my trunk. Make sure your's is open.

i thought that only disabled the key fob from opening the trunk, not the inside switch.

Thanks, got it open. I had to keep my car on for a while today and it opened up. I had gotten a new battery installed in the car and we think that is what it is. So i will take it to my mechanic and let him check it out. Thanks yall!

sweet. i had the same problem and just found this thread. the trunk latch wasn't working from either the keyfob or the driver's door inside panel. turns out it was just the safety switch inside the glove compartment.
