My tank was on E last night, 0 miles left and all. Went to fill her up and she only took 14.7 gallons and the needle stopped at just over 85% full. Any idea's on what the problemo could be???

Thanks!

There is a TSB for this issue, its a common problem.

The repair wasnt covered under my extended warranty (BS 3rd party warranty program I purchased), the cost to repair the issue is approx $200.

If you search the forum you will see its been discussed many times.

I never repaired my car. At some gas stations I have to add gas slowly to fill the tank. Its a pain but only happens at some stations so I can live with it.

This prob has been discussed previously, see--
post5906341.html?hilit=fuel tank problem#p5906341

it has happened to me once several months back, then I followed one of the suggestions from the thread above-when you're putting the gas nozzle in, stick it in all the way and then back it out just a little and then try pumping (that's what she said! :naughty: )

I haven't had a problem since then and there are a few members who have said that seems to work for them too. hope that helps you.

i had this prob. also but it would only happen about 10% of the times i filled up. I mentioned it to my dealership when i was in and they replaced some sensor under warranty that was supposed to fix it. It didnt happen again for a while but every now and then ill have the problem which is usually fixed by turning the gas nozzle slightly to about 2 oclock when filling. Not sure why this helps but it seems too. Ill mention this problem again if i have to go to the dealership for anything else but its not worth going just for that not to mention i seem to always have a full tank if im by the dealership so they wouldnt be able to duplicate the issue. Keep us posted on what they do and exactly what they replace. This will help others that have the same issue down the road

Well I took the car into the dealer yesterday and he basically said that the info I got off the internet (this site) was probably bs "because i've never done those tsb's here before and I've never seen that problem with the m". I said "ok, well, just take a look at the tsb's and see if it helps.

6 hours later I get a phone call saying "yeah, those tsb's helped a lot and we think it's fixed".

I go fill up a full tank of gas, the needs goes to F, problem solved!

Thanks guys!

please give him this website so he can come personally apoligize to us... or give me their address so i can junk punch him and say "YOU KNOW WHY!!"

None-the-less, glad its fixed and it was under warranty. Look at your paperwork you got from them bc it should say exactly what they did or replaced. If you could post that on here it could be great help to others with the same prob. Thanks!

What is TSB and could there be any other reason why it won't fill up? I know a little about cars and most
of my service team know I know a little but I am sure they would like to make a buck from my luck
if I happen to not know the answers for them. Plus they charge a $49 fee for diagnosing the problem.
Complete and full verbiage is greatly appreciated.

Answer: Technical Service Bulletin- duh...lol...I went and found the answers and this as well at

http://www.infiniti-techinfo.com/TSB/TS ... sbType=TSB

Subject: SB Infiniti; Hard to FIll Fuel Tank
Summary of ITB08041:
IF YOU CONFIRM The fuel tank is difficult to fill more than ½ (filling nozzle continues to click OFF when the fuel tank is more than ½ full), ACTIONS Install the Cut Bracket (cover) onto the Fill Limit Vent Valve (FLVV) inside the fuel tank. See this bulletin for further detail.

Then what??

A local dealer quoted $492 for parts/labor to install the Cut Bracket (cover) onto the FLVV. Is that the going rate? Can a non-dealership install the Cut Bracket?

Thanks guys!
