Lately its been taking me a few times on pushing down on the gas tank release latch to get the little gas tank door to open, is there any way to tighten the cable so I would on have to push down on the latch once?

Use a screw driver to pop it open, if it wont. Then press the white thing in a couple of times, hat worked for me. If not then get a wrench and turn the little thing that goes around it.

Nice! I have a wire-loop, too. I just pop the trunk and it is hidden on the passenger side.
