Gas tank release issue

So i got tired of prying open my gas tank door every time i fill up.

After taking a look by the quarter panel, I realize that the spring contraption which contracts/releases the door when you push down on the gas tank latch, has fallen off. There is no support to hold it in place, and I cant think of a way to hold it in place. I'd go to the junkyard and examine how it's supposed to properly be, but I rather not drive 20 minutes. hmmmm. ANY HELP?
