So I recently found a s*** ton of rust in my gas tank. Sucks and now the filter keeps clogging and the rb is starving. Anyone know anything about using a J30 tank? It seems like a decent fuel cell and a good solution to my problem. I'm trying to use as little funds as possible because I'm a bit broke. Any ideas are appreciated.

dont know about the j30 idea. but what you can do to buy you some time is, get pea gravel/rocks/bolts/anything that will jumble around. put that in the tank with a little bit of gas. and get shaking. the more you shake it the more its going to knock the loose rust off. that will buy you a little time till you can get a new tank.

a while back i also found a "s*** ton" of rust in my tank. they make stuff to put in your gas tank to knock the rust loose. if there really is that much though you would be better off getting a new tank especially if you have a rb. risking rust messing up your motor/fuel pump (if it hasnt already) isnt worth it IMO. i realize you want to replace it,but just thought i would add that. let us know if you get a j30 tank. really curious if that would work as i still havent found a tank for mine yet...

"u-pulls" cannot sell tanks, but if they pull it they can sell it. The J30 tank is trunk mounted, not under the car. And they have a taller trunk.

Not much room no. its a nice fuel cell idea. Only mods are run a bit longer fuel lines and strap it down, possibly dent in the spare tire well a bit. i am gonna try it. I ll let you guys know. Thanks for the input.

p.s. "legit" u pulls cant sell them. Find a redneck yard like I did and they will. :bigthumb:

^ Lol, he's trying to save money.

OP, if you're short on funds but good with tools, I would just pick up a fuel cell of craigslist for cheap that someone doesn't need and hook it up in the trunk temporarily until

A) you have enough money to purchase a good condition oem tank.

B) get whatever kind of fuel cell you WANT working and done right.

So the j30 tank worked out pretty well. Only had to mod the fill neck so it wasn't so bad. Sits well in the spare sink. Not to shabby for a poor mans fuel cell. :dblthumb:
