I have a 04 coupe and all of a sudden my gas tank won't open. I searched and found out that it has somthing to do with the locks. I read the manual and non of those steps worked

When I searched someone said to use a flathead to open it. I just wanted to know if that is going to break anything inside.

Do NOT try to pry the door open with a screwdriver The door is probably out of sequence with the lock mechanism.Read this thread about a similar issue someone has had... zerothread?id=312991

Then find the person that told you to pry it open with a screwdriver and them!

Let us know if this works!

Yeah that was the thread I already read. And it was infinititech1 that said use a screwdriver, so I thought maybe it would actually work. Unless he was joking and I miss read it.

I've been pressing the lock button a 100 times with the car on, off. off with ignition on.

is there any unlock button anywhere else in the car?

The solenoid that controls the lock for the gas door gets stuck. I had this happen and decided it was prudent to bust it open with a screw driver since I had warranty and this is a known problem.

I have heard there is a manual release in the trunk behind the carpeted finishing panel. You got to disassemble the trunk to get at it but it keeps you from having to actually break the locking solenoid. Once you get in there keep it disassembled until you get a new one because you'll need to get in there to change it out.
