Gas Spewing out.......'99 i30

The last two times I attempted to fill my car's near empty gas tank, gas started spewing back out after a few gallons were put in.
I am wondering what is going on. A lot of air pressure had built up in the tank the last time so I'm not sure what will happen the next time I try to fill up. The most gas I got in the second time, left it at a little below half full.

Sounds like a vent tube is backed up. It happened to me once or twice on my 98 Maxima. Turns out the vent control valve was clogged. Replaced it and it was good to go.

In addition to what Kenny mentioned, check all the tubes going to the fuel tank/evap canister. Make sure there is no blockage/restriction. It's also possible that the float inside the fuel tank by the fill line is stuck in the up position. Additional diagnostic may be needed at the dealership.
