Short answer is no. A bottle of octane booster raises a fixed amount of fuel by one point. That's not 87 to 88 octance. One point means 87 to 87.1. You need A LOY of bottles of booster to raise a tank of gas from 87 to 91.G’d up wrote:Hello fellows. Here is my situation.
Due to the gas shortages in GA i am only able to find Regular 87 octane gas. Sine i always run premium in my G35, my question is can i throw some 87 and a bottle of octane booster into my car to compensate for the ****ty gas.?
Yes becuase the increased altitude allows you to get away with lower octane. You can find 86 and even 84 in some places in Denver. Since the air is thinner the engine gets less oxygen and therefore reduces its power output and therefore reduces pinging/knocking/pre-detonation. That's why you can get away with running a lower octane gas.SVTCOBRA wrote:There was just a thread on octane boosters.http://forums.g35club.org/zerothread/369244
We just got back from the NC mountains in our 05 G35 Sedan and it did fine on 87 octane. I keep reading not so good things about boosters.
No problem here in New JerseyG’d up wrote:Hello fellows. Here is my situation.

Found some on about the four station I tried. Took me 45 minutes to even find regular a couple weeks ago. It was a freaky feeling.......
