...ok y'all....something you should be aware of, itdoes happen, not alot, but it does happen.....

If you think that when you fill up with gas that it ends up taking too much, (more gallons than yourtank is supposed to hold), try this the next time atthat same place that you filled up, or, at the place that you usually fill up at...

Some places have been caught at rigging theirpumps to show and charge for gas that you didn'tactually get, so.....here's the check:

Next time you get gas, only put in exactly 10gallons according to the pump reading, then, dothe math...your dollar amout should be exactly10x the price per gallon.....really, some stationshave been busted for fraud.....so, check it to besure of your usual place that you get gas, especially if it doesn't seem right.

Hmm, thanks for the tip, it's good to be on guard against these types of things. The thing that concerns me most is the possibility that the pump is not calibrated properly to indicate the correct volume of fuel. So the price per gallon may be correct, and you can check that using your method, but the actual volume delivered to your tank may be less than 10 gallons for example. I don't know of any way of testing that on your own, we kind of have to rely on government laws to regulate this and ensure the pumps are recalibrated regularly. I guess if you knew the exact volume of your tank, which we should, and it was totally empty then you could check the volume the pump says its delivering, but this would still be crude because the exact "empty" and "full" mark on our tanks is not precise. Something to think about anyway!
