Hi...

I have bought my S14 (Sr20det) 2 mounth's ago (one of 10 in israel...)I have noticed that the car eats 1liitre of gas to every 5 kilometers  , what gives me 200 kilometers for a full tank...I have checked with some friends of mine, the ones with the other Silvia's, and they do like 400km for a tank, witch gives us 1:10... :help what can the problem be?I have checked with the consult, and there is nothing about my car that is wrong, except high RPM at neutral...The car is OEM.

10X for all of your help.

Tom...

Change the spark plug, and fuel filter and maybe oil. Check your plug wires. Make sure it's running well. Does it have any lack of power or anything?

Clean the MAF and see how it goes then. Also check your fuel pressure because the FPR might be stuck.

Clean the maf with either carb cleaner (takes a while to dry) or better yet, electrical contact cleaner. My MAF was filthy and getting horrible mileage, cleaning the MAF fixed it right up.

As a side note, where in Israel do you live? I've been all over the country quite a few times...beautiful place.

What is your rpm at during idle? If it's anything higher than 1k rpm then turn the air idle control valve between intake manifold plenums 2 and 3 down to 800-1k rpm. Check your spark plug gaps. Clogged cat perhaps? Bad turbo? Bad o2 sensor?

The plugs are new...the idle rpm is 850, and the mechanic from nissan said it's supposed to be on 700...the turbo is new...The consult don't show's any fault of the o2...maybe leaky injectors?, or weak fuel pump? can it be?!

msaskin, I'm from the center of israel...Tel-Aviv Area...you are more then invited to mail me on your next trip to here...

I say clean the MAF...it's cheap for the electronics cleaner, and takes all of about 5 minutes to do, including removing/reinstalling the MAF.

Tel Aviv was nice...I'd have to say Eilat is my favorite place though, nothing like being on the beach :)

cleaned the maf, the car seems to run better, and smoother...but i'm not sure about the gas milage...anyway, i've got my self some 550's and today i'm going to upgrade my ECU...my oonly problem is that the 550's are top feed, and i need a new fuel rail...so I will have to wait until i will get one from the US (we don't have SR parts in israel...).and I need to get a new Walbro 255...after that i believe all of my gas problems will be solved...

It sounds a lot to me like you might have a leaky injector seal. I had the same problem with my SR. Pull the fuel rail out from the intake manifold, turn the ignition on so the fuel pump runs for about 5 seconds (DO NOT try to start the car, just turn the key to run). Check to see if there is gas spraying out of the rail.

My car ran rough, and didn't have much power when it had the problem.

hope that helps

Paul

It might also be a boost leak, I'd check your hoses, BOV, ect to see if your dumping air out somplace.
