I just talked to a German intern at Jim Bean:

He says gas in europe is about $7 to $7.5 per gallon.

That not counting the <yearly> gas guzzler taxes for vehicles w/ below average fuel economy and the added tax for older cars that dont meet current emmisions standards.Neither taxes are small and together enter the low 4 digits per year. All european countries seem to be like that currently. So we have it pretty good here.

Fred...:)

Every year prices spike before/during this holiday weekend. It's common knowledge that this is the busiest car-traveling holiday of the year (for whatever reason, most travelers do so by automobile during this one). Every year prices go way up, and every year the news covers it like it's never happened before, and every year gas prices experience a correction after the holiday.

Be sure to notice pump prices in two weeks.

Yeah, gas is 1.89 here for premium which kinda sucks but when Fred throws out those numbers for Germany it makes me appreciate what we have.

you also have to remember that the gas in Europe is of much higher quality than the crap they feed our cars here. That is still a lot of money though:(

Cool, man. The fact is still that this holiday is widely known as the busiest automobile traveling holiday of the year. Be careful to remember that America is a big place with a lot of roads, which this weekend, will generally be fuller than any other time of the year. This is the cause of the nationwide gas price hike that occurs every year during this holiday week.
