IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.

AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES.

THEREFORE MAY 19TH HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT TO THEM DAY" AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE THAT DAY.

THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THE WORD TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.

WAITING ON THIS ADMINISTRATION TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO?

REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.

SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS TO EVERYONE

*¡dope!* my bad...I just wanted to post it and I didn't really care to look if a thread like this existed. but anyways, I'm not buying gas that day and I'm coordinating a carpool day with my co-workers so that we can save on gas money - i think that'll be the best way to cut my/our fuel expenses.

thanks for doing your part Jester - I've managed to organize something at work where we carpool atleast once a week and that would probably be the plan for this summer. For commuters who drive everyday, I encourage you to do the same.

yeah, im going to be working at the same place as my mom for the summer, so i'll drive with her to work. it will save us on gas and we wont be feeding 2 SUVs then, even though our blazer gets around 22-25 highway mileage.

Sucks that your blazer gets better gas mileage than my 3000;)

edit: to stay on topic--I probably won't need gas that day, but if I do, I'm definately buying.

Because its NOT going to work. Think of how many people have gotten this, and just shrugged it off. Then think about the fact that the gas companies are still going to get their money, as pointed out in this, and the other 5-19 thread.

Not only that. So what the company loses 4.6 billion dollars (sounds like a bogus number to me anyway) they will get it back the next day. Not only that but if we did this imagine all the people who will lose their jobs. Worse. Idea. Ever.

So what if a couple million people dont buy gas one day, there are still Trucks, trains, jets ect that will still need gas every day. and also though couple million people will need to fill up there 50 gal suv gas tanks the next day at a higher price. So it sounds like were getting the shaft no matter what.PS did you have to type in all caps.

You forget about the government. All this stuff is paid for for them, but remember they are a HUGE consumer of petroleum products in the US.

sorry 'bout the caps, the point of the matter is to let gas companies know that we, consumers, can do something about crazy price hikes. it has occured to me that I will ned to fill up eventually but i'm not buying gas today to send a message that gas prices don't have to go up? when I read all of your post saying that we can't win or it's a no win situation - basically i'm hearing a bunch of winnies accepting that they are agreeing with something that just ain't right. I'm probably gonna load up gas tomorrow but hopefully, tomorrow, gas companies would reconsider any more price hikes on gas. i know for a fact that a lot of people did they're share in the NY, NJ, CT area. it was broadcasted on radio yesterday and on the trip home, there were lines in gas stations along my way. Just do your part and maybe we can enjoy driving our cars a lil' bit longer without costing us an arm and a leg.

whinnies? i dont think so. yes, most agree that gas prices that high are a little crazy, but its not something the consumer can fix. people who belive stuff like that are sadly mislead and odds are, most wont change their minds because they're too stubborn to listen to reason.

if its easier to be realistic than to participate - you can think that, I guess... and if some people are just too stubborn to do something about things in this world - then they have a problem.

yeah, we can fill up in dallas and drive to san antonio on one tank, or so. but yeah, city mileage sucks, its like 17mpg...:(

and no Type X, its not about being stubborn, its knowing the fact that this has been done over and over and over and it doesnt help. the people who thnk they can rally against something they cant control and wont be able to control need to grow up and learn that they should put the effort into something else that WILL make a difference.

Okay Type X, i'm sorry but you need to take a lesson in economics. Opec is the greatest thing to ever happen to the oil industry. Trust me on that one. Not to be a jackass, though I most likely will sound like on, but you don't really seem to grasp economics very well. It doesn't matter if we don't buy it for that one day. We will buy it the next day. It's an oligopoly, it chooses the prices. You want to fight it? Influence millions of people to talk to Californian congress to get rid of their *** taxes that quadruple the gas taxes. All of the other states follow california and look, they're already on their way. Don't listen to bogus emails that are illegitimate and stupid. Go do some reasearch go and take an econ class.
