So . . . I needed to fill up today . . . went to my regular station and regular pump. About 7 litres in (close to 2 gallons) I heard a gurgle and then gas backed up strongly out of the filler tube (about a litre, I figure).

About 3/4 on the trigger (never go full-out).

What think -- a one-time glitch? Air bubble in the tank because I let it go too long without filling (and for me, the warning light comes on at 498 kms, I discovered)? Something to be concerned about?

Anyone? Bueller ?

That is the fuel handles malfunction.

It happened to me once and the service engine light came on a couple of days later and then went out again in a few days.

Check your car every so often, smell around the rear wheels to make sure you don't smell gas. Some V's had broken/improperly installed fuel filler necks put in them.

If you were running low and put only 2 gallons in and this happened, though, I'd be inclined to chalk it up to a defective pump.

I fill my car every 2 to 3 days... never had that issue. Hopefully it's the pump.

I agree with biggie.

I almost always fill up with less than 1.5 gallons left in the tank and never had that problem.
