gas overflow

CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN THE FUNCTION OF THE SMALL HOSE RUNNING ALONG THE GAS FILL PIPE. I HAVE A DRIP OCCASIONALLY WHEN I FILL UP FULL AND IT COMES FROM THAT HOSE

thats a vapor hose to allow the pressure in your tank to bleed off to the filler neck while filling so the station pump wont continusly click off while trying to put gas in the car. it is pretty common for that hose to leak on the older maxi. the clamp on the tank is a bugger to get at but other then that its pretty simple to replace it.
