I got my 2003 G 1 week ago I have multiple problems which makes me hate my G

1- cd changer stoped working the very first day

2- power seat is not working very well and the upper part gets stuck which is so dangerious

3- horrible gas miles 210 mile for full tank of 93 oct. which is 60 bucks in chicago. ( city driving)

4- steering wheel is so hard. I am sick of parking. I looked in the forum there some advises tire pressure, fluid ect.. tire air did help but not so much.

please advise me guys if not I am gonna sell my G in 1 month! which I am gonna loose $3 g.

What I am looking for is What do you know about these problems on G?

I own a 2003 80.000 miles G35

The CD player and radio seem to have problems in the 2003-04 model years. If you bought it from an Infiniti dealer and its under warranty, take it back. Same thing with the seats, take it back if you have a warranty. As for the gas mileage, that does suck. You should be getting around 17 MPG. Try it again, make sure its actually full. When you fill up after that, record how many miles you drove and the amount of gas you put in. Divide those two numbers and let us know what you get the 2nd time.

Welcome to the forum.See what Smocky said about 1, 2, and 4.

If I had a dollar for every comment about gas mileage I'd have quite a few dollars. It's part of G lore, that and having a car not too many others have.Sorry for the surprise.

You will eventually learn to love the G though.

210 sounds good to me. I don't get better than that for sure. It is just the way of city driving and the G. I think it is a good idea to do an excessive search before buying a car. Othervise it can hurt your pocket.

Lol, 210 sounds good to you zozo? If he used 18 gallons, that's not even 12 MPG. That's terrible.

Ok, step aside, step aside, I'm a doctor...Oh wait, I just think I am.

Not to insult The "Sultan", but the likely hood is that you filled up before the tank was empty. On my G coupe, the needle registers at 1/8 of a tank and still has around 3.5-4 gallons in it.

One day someone will invent a good gas gauge, until then, we just have to realize that the gauge readings aren't linear.

Secondly, if you're new to the car, then you've probably been pushing it from stop light to stop light. I did an informal test this past weekend. The test consisted of slow acceleration and shifting around 3k RPMs.

So far, I've got about 300 miles clocked and my light hasn't come on yet (normally comes on around 1/8 of a tank). Which means I'm getting almost 19 MPG with 95% city driving a couple WOT take offs because I get tired of driving slow.

If you drive like you own a gas station, then you're probably going to be getting 15-16 MPG.

I'm also sorry that you didn't search to see that the 03-04s weren't the best cars to buy. Infiniti made a lot of mistakes that were rectified in 05. And then they had to make me sad by adding projector headlight and a one piece bumper in 06

the best way to check the gas mileage is to re-set your trip meter when you fill up (fill all the way up). Then on your next fill, compare the amount that you put in to the miles that you have accumulated.

I thought Sultans just hung around all day with a harem of gorgeous women wafting them with palm frawns and feeding them grapes and oversized TURKEY legs... Where do I apply to be a sultan? I have a real fancy resumay!

Thx for advises guys. After all your word I am not to much worried about gas miles. It is what it is.

I did not buy the car from infini dealear. I am thinking would it be still covered? I bought it from local dealer who are willing to have the seats and cd player repaired. but if infiniti would do it, it is better. would they do it?

1,2,3 I believe I can survive but number 4!!!!

What can I do for steering wheel guys? It is so hard to park the car with that kind of tough steering wheel. when I take it to a local shop what should I advise the guy?

I am asking you guys because you guys know way better then those idiots.

For the comment of being Sultan and etc..

Arizona g35: you have to born a Sultan, resumes are not welcomed :P

Telcoman : I actually have picked up an Asian one. I had her drive my G

I do thank everyone for the advises it is so valueable!

I would take it to an Infiniti Dealer and have them check out the steering wheel for you.

If they say it's normal, then I think you'll have to start hitting the Gym. There could be something wrong with the powersteering though.

Is gas mileage significantly better on 05+ G's???

Is this confirmed true? Are we talking 1 or 2 MPG more?

3. Keep an eye on the oil level. The G35 isn't particularly good on gas so it may be normal, but make sure it's not burning oil. My buddy has a Z that's burning a crap load of oil and it gets like 5 mpg at times.

4. The G35 uses variable power assist. The big problem with the 03-04 models is it varies with engine speed. Newer models vary the assist with vehicle speed. Why they decided to even consider using engine speed is beyond me. Unfortunately, there's not a whole lot you can do about it other than trying to keep the revs down a bit when parking. My Titan is also dependent on Engine speed. Turning the steering wheel while trying to accelerate from a stop or near stop can be a bit of a pain. Especially when the truick weighs 5000 lbs.

Last night I filled up 17.77 gallons and my trip odometer showed 338 miles.

This equates to just slightly higher than 19 MPG with about 90%-95% city driving (stop lights/signs every mile or less...ask for details).

338 miles is awesome. I am just speechless. What is your G?

Guys what are your experiences about G on the snow? How bad is RWD?

I have an 05 6MT coupe with the stock 19" rims and a Plenum Spacer (I really don't think it's doing much with my current plenum).

I think most of the snow guys will tell you to get snow tires or just don't drive your G during the winter.

The most I've ever gotten is about 465 miles on a tank...that's all (98% I'd say) freeway driving, constantly. I'm with joe in that 300-350 miles is normal, depending on where I'm going and how I can get there.
