Just bought a second car, The 300zx V6. Just wondering yoru gas mileage. Today I filled up the tank w/ premium and drove about 50 miles, and now it's almost down to 3/4 tank now. That kinda seems weird due to I'm used to the s14 and s13 of getting about 100 miles per 1/4 tank.

I also recent filled up from empty status, and it said I pumped 12 gallons (the gas needle being on "e"). I read on the specs that tehre should be total of 18 gallons. When the gas needle is on E, is there 7 more gallos i should have left?

I'm thinking I might need a tune up, but not sure. Please let me know about what I should expect gas mileage wise.

Your gas gauge might not be reading correctly, either..

All 300ZX models are 3.0L V6s. But the 1990 and non-turbo part helps.

my 91 tt got about 21 mph highway driving it back from bama cruising at 90mph, city driving in the boost it's barely over the single digits, and yes if your gauge reads e and gets filled with less than specified amount of gas then your gauge isn't acurate (pretty commmon on lots of cars) keep in mond your driving habits have a lot to do with milage, sustained speed at low revs will yeild better milage than high revs at low speeds, and the Z isn't an ecnomy car so don't expect great milage

well looks like i got 100 miles to half tank. does that sound bad? Im going to try some fuel injector cleaning.

If my gauge is bad, how can i make it accurate? well at least MOre accurate. Also, can someone confirm that there is 18 gallons that our cars have? thanks.

if the gauge reads a bit off you could spend tons of time with trial and error trying to adjust it, I had a civic with a bad gauge I filled up ever 300 miles or so just reset the trip counter when getting gas

there have been other threads on this as well in the 240 section. Most people, including my own s14 will go to E but I will still have a lot of time before I need to fill up and even before the light comes on.

thanks for the response fluid and evildky.

Anyway, today I chaned my sparks, fuel filter, and air filters. I also found out why my N/A felt so slow! Turns out one of the cylinder weren't firing due to a fuel injector plug? no being secured. Turns out that the little notch that holds the sensor down broke, and it wiggled out of the socket, causing the engine to feel wobbly and have less power. Got it all fixed up w/ zip ties and electrical tape. Those two do wonders.

Now about gas mileage again. I put fuel injector cleaner as I filled up to the top w/ 91. I was driving the car hard till about quarter tank, which was only about 40 miles. Now for all you who know your car better than I do mine, Is this normal when driving the Z hard? I'm hoping if I "gas Save" i'll try and reach at least 80 per quarter tank. anyone w/ help would be, well lots of help. thanks!

if you want to calaulate your milage just top off the tank, reset the trip counter and start driving, next time you get gas be sure to fill up agaia dn devide the miles driven by the number of gallons needed to fill up, this will give you your milage

your milage will change greatly depending on the type of driving you do, boost drinks gas! my 71 gets about 5 mpg on a good day but it's pretty much a race only car

my z32 is just a weekend fun thing and I drive it hard an usually end up with something like 13 mpg, but it's local off highway and lots of boost driving

my truck well it's a big freaking pig and my daily driver and I get about 15 mpg but it weighs 5300 lbs empty and I do a fair amount of towing and hauling

if you want better gas milage stay out of boost or get a 4 banger
