Hey Guys,

Well I have recent bought a QX4 and this is my first suv/truck. I am getting about 350kms per tank if i drive normally. ( Not stomping on it at every green light)

Does that sound about right? Or think my truck may need a tune up? I have 146km on my Qx4 and it seems to run great. Just thought id ask. Thanks!

Once i drove to windsor from toronto and had 360kms at half a tank, meanwhile city driving i roughly hit 290/300 kms by quarter tank. Really you need to calculate your gas mileage more effectively to compare, i.e I get roughly 12.5L/100kms highway, and 15L/100kms city. It always depends on the driver, but if you want to improve gas mileage then do your regular maintenance, do it on time and keep on top of things. Change your sparkplugs, fluids, air filter on time. Often thats all you can do besides reducing weight (i.e cargo cover, spare tire, side steps, seats, your girlfriend). dont use chips or those little turbine things you put in your air intake, their all gimmicks.

Depending on the amount of city/hwy driving... in the summer I get between 500-600km a tank, in the winter with the crappy "winter blends" the gas stations use my mileage drops to 400-500km.

Like Qxxx4 said, do all your maintenance and you'll see an improvement in mileage. New spark plugs made the most difference in my Pathy, added 10% to my mileage, and I changed them well before the interval specified in the manual. New fluids and filters increased the mileage just 1 - 2%. Tire pressure can also make a big difference, make sure you're around 30-35PSI unless you're going offroading.

Just came across this study and found it interesting: http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg...9.pdf

Apparently, vehicles that have fuel injection don't have a drop in fuel economy with clogged air filters. Performance/acceleration will suffer, but not fuel economy. I always changed it yearly as a rule because I thought a clogged filter would drop fuel economy... guess that isn't the case.

I'll probably still change it yearly as a preventative measure, but still...

Cant do the km math here but believe 10k = 6 miles. Anyway Nissan rated my 03/3500 at 19mpg highway and US EPA re-rated at 17mpg.I get 18mpg+ highway, A/C blasting in 100+ temps.Thats with Premium fuel.

I have an '01 QX4 and I regularly get about 340 miles, or 560 km with about 18 gallons at fillup. So that's about 18.8 mpg in mixed driving.
