gas mileage

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

hey guys i was just wondering what the average sentra is getting for gas mileage i have an 06 spec v and only getting 16-18 depending for city mileage... that does not seem right to me... thinking about trading in when 07 hits for something with better mileage with these gas prices forget it...

Hmm... 16-18 is low. Most Spec owners get low 20s city and mid 20s mixed city highway, hitting maybe a max of 26 or 27 purely highway.

Do you have a heavy right foot? So far, there are no real issues with the 06's, so I can't come up with any maintenance-that-Nissan-should-pay-for reason for the low mileage.

My wife gets around 20-21 all city, stop and go traffic. On the highway on long trips, average 28-30 all day long. Mostly depends on driving habits as well, if you have a heavy foot and shift beyond the 3k rpm mark frequently, I could see 16-18.

That's true, the QR starts to run very rich at higher RPMs, so fuel consumption certainly goes up.

yeah i do have a heavy foot when the kiddo is not in the car but he is 99 percent of the time so i really dont see that being the issue cause it hardly ever happens and i get 240mile give or take a few miles when i fill up

240 miles and how many gallons do you end up putting back end. Normally with low fuel light on, it takes about 11 gallons. So seems like your calculations are off. 240/11= 21mpg.

In my Spec, I get about 23 to 25mpg with city/racing (because there's always racing mixed in with my city driving) and have gotten up to 32mpg on the highway going 80mph. I shift around 3k, give or take depending on what I am doing. So yeah... you're doing something wrong if you're getting that crappy of mpg numbers.

US gasoline has decline since the typical BTU was 125,000 prior to 1990 when the Clean Air Act became law.The EPA MPG test allow MPG to be tested with special high heat producing gasoline unavailable to US consumers. Special ordered to standardize testing.

Research the current BTU of conventional and reformulated and oxygenated with Ethanol chemicals called gasoline today!

You will find it can be as low as 104,000 BTU vs 125,000 test ...........this can result in a 15% below labeled MPG alone............not counting things like exceeding 61 mph, idling at stop lights or in traffic, or using AC, or accelerating too fast vs test limits.
