I have an 07 G35S with about 22K miles on it, I just recently purchased it. According to the specs I should be able to get 24 MPG on the highway...I cant really get more out of the car over 21...and I am not driving crazy. I noticed it idles around 900RPM...isnt that too high? Also, it is around 3500 RPM at 80MPH...is that normal?

thanks

My 08 gets a combined of between 22 and 23 depending on weather.

You idle is fine...Are there any mods on the car? Have you changed the oil/filter, air filter?

Any wiring changes? I was thinking the idle sounds just a 'little' high but not substantially so. I'll have to pay attention today when I jump into my 08.

It seems to me that once warmed up mine is somewhere around 800, however I forgot to look.

I noticed something today I haven't noticed before. If I run in DS first gear and take it up to about 15 mph and let off the throttle that the engine will actually pick up slightly before dropping. Did it a couple of times, not sure if it will be repeatable tomorrow. Almost sounds similar to the Chyslers rear ending other cars problem in the drive throughs of Taco Time.

I'm getting 23 with about 70% highway and 30% local driving.

My G35 is at 3k RPM at 80 MPH. I frequently exceed 24 MPG but outside temperature is a very significant factor in my MPG. If early morning temperatures are below 20* my mileage drops to 21 or 22 from 24 and 25 when the temperatures are in the 50s & 60s and aboveI only drove 5 speed automatics as loaners and it seemed they sucked up gas much more than my manual 6 speed.I recently drove an 09 7 speed automatic for about 150 miles while getting new plugs. At 80 the tach was around 2500 RPM and it seemed to suck up less gas than the previous 5 speeds.

Here is what I've discovered.I Fill tank to shut off. Add a little more perhaps another 1/2 gal to an even dollar amount. $32.00 $33.00 etc

As the gas gauge needle is square on the 1/4 mark if I'm over 120 miles and 230 miles square on the 1/2 tank mark I know I'm getting decent mileage.I've filled up with the needle exactly on the half tank mark and it takes less than 10 gallons. The 1/2 tank mark on my gas gauge is not at the 10 gallon mark in the tank.
