Hey guys, so im sick of hearing people say how much they get per tank or half tank blah blah. Here is the most accurate way

The way us canadians compare will be L / 100km....how many litres we use per 100kms. i can convert that to mpg but for now...lets stick to the basics.

Americans, stick to Gal / 100 mi i guess.

step 1. fill up your gas tank FULL. write down your odometer on the receipt

step 2. whenever you want go fill up again, whether it be 3/4, 1/2, 1/64th, 1/4.5 it doesnt matter really, fill up again and write down your odometer reading.

step 3...calculation....mileage 2 - mileage 1

now you have "mileage t"

now on your last bill, the second one, write down how many litres you pumped

take that number and divide by "mileage t" and multiply by 100.

thats your mileage! xL / 100kms

so, heres my best record....

11.209L/100km HWY

conditions: 15 celcius, sunny dry weather, 1 passenger approx 160lbs, me approx 150lbs, our luggage approx 100lbs, cargo cover removed, fresh semisynth oil, 3.3L engine with old plugs, wires, and 2 bad 02 sensors, 35psi tire pressure on all 4, did speeds of 115-130 most of way with a slight tail wind.

my buddy is "excited" to install new spark plugs and wires in my q in two weeks. hes a ford mechanic and when he saw my motor said everything looks so damn tight and itll be diff for him. should get same gas mileage once i have the subs with teh fresh plugs...lol

Most recently, I got 12.5L/100km. Mostly highway/country driving no faster than 120km/h. Some city driving too.

Best tank ever, 11.4L/100km. Driving to my uncle's cottage and back, never went over 115Km/h. When I had the car in the US got 20.5MPG once...

The best mileage I've had was 10.3L/100km. That was on a return trip from Banff, AB to Edmonton, AB, doing 120km/h most of the way. Summertime, 25 - 30 degrees Celsius, No cargo except my backcountry camping gear, about 40lbs. Fresh oil and *Everything* else changed in the last couple months... plugs and all the fluids and filters. 32PSI.

I had assumed gravity had helped out, since Banff is in the rockies and has an elevation about 800m higher than Edmonton. A few weeks later, though, I made a trip across the plains to Montana and got 10.9L/100km, again at 120km/h. An empty trip again, just a change of clothes and bathroom stuff for staying overnight.

Oh, and for converting units you can just type something like "20mpg to L/100km" in Google, like this: http://www.google.com/search?h...100km. I personally keep track in km/L, much easier to convert to MPG (multiply by 2.35); never was a fan of the L/100km mumbo-jumbo.

Most idiotic thing I've heard:

Friend 1: I get around 700km a tank (driving Kia Spectra)Friend 2: Ya, I get that too. Maybe 650. (driving GMC Sierra 1500)Friend 1: What? How do you get such good mileage?Friend 2: I don't know, maybe something's wrong with your car?

Sad thing is, they were both genuine and it didn't click that the truck's gas tank is double the size of the car's. Not the brightest fish in the barrel.

the best i ever got was 19 mpg and i was going fast too. driving from harisburg pa to marland. at some points we were at 90 mph on south 83. the manual transmission really helps save u fuel on the highway. i wish i had a 6th gear. at 80 i am at 3100 rpm. man i have plenty of passsing power in 5th gear too. the worst i ever had was 16 mpg combined. that was when i was always on the gas and offfroading and stuff. now i am getting horrible gas mileage and the power is so low and laggy because my maf is bad and i know my o2 sensors are going to. ugh... to many problems for a college kid to handle!

The best I ever got was 22 mpg. But on the highway I usually get 20-21, around town it drops to about 16-17 depending on how I'm driving.
