vacuum leak can cause MPG to drop...you aren't having any idle issues are you?

Cleaning the throttle body can be risky...not really recommended unless it's filthy. The butterfly valves are really sensitive!

This and also make sure all your plug wires are tight.

How many miles do you have on it?
Is it running rough?
Skipping?
Is the SES light on?
What mileage are you getting now? (city/hw/or combo)
What did you get before it dropped?

I have 57000 miles on it .... It is running perfect it idols perfect. I first was getting about 220 miles to a tank(I mainly do city driving) then it dropped to 120 miles to a tank.. I then changed the sparkplugs, throttle body gasket, and cleaned the trottle body and it went up to 170 miles a tank ... Think the mass air sensor got dirty when I had the k&n air filter on it?

If you over oiled the K&N then it is possible it affected the MAF.

220 miles to a full tank is still really low though.

I get about 20-21 MPG driving some highway, but mainly around town in my 04 G Coupe with AT. 71K miles on mine with fairly new plugs and WIX filter.
Not sure how many miles per tank I get, cause I don't let it get below 1/4 tank.
But, 220 to 120 is a huge drop....and, you haven't noticed any performance issues.....
Somebody stealing your gas?? :gotme

if you cant do the reset instructions you can hard reset by pulling the negative wire off the battery and then hitting the brakes a couple times... you might lose radio/comfort settings...

Update:

Just went 412 miles on 17.8 gal of 87 grade gas... Worked out to 23.1 mpg. Not bad considering that I was driving a 310 miles highway trip during which my cruising speed was most of the time 80-90 mph (with a one time excursion to 130 mph ;)). After this trip, the rest of the miles before refuel was in mixed 40/60% highway driving 10 mile trips. I do however never accelerate hard and brake very lightly.

I was actually trying to drain the tank as much as I could before refueling but given that i've only driven my new G for only a little over a wk, I didn't know what the lower limit is once the fuel gauge needle actually is at the bottom of the Empty mark. Guess now I know as I still have a little over 2 gal left even.

Will see how far this new tank of gas can go...... Maybe i will see telcoman's 25 mpg fuel eco....

Had you filled up immediately after the 310 mile trip you probably would have seen the 25 mpg?
Do you recall the outside temperature?
My G gets its best mileage at outside temperatures between 50 and 80* F
Rain and high humidity lower MPG a little.
My best MPG was on a trip to Florida in April 2008 on I95 27.900 MPG

12-Apr-08 55288 297 10.642 $3.28 27.900 $35.00 Ga

There are a gazillion police out there so I never go more than 7-8 MPH over the posted limit. 65 in some places and 70 in others.

I did a one month test a few years ago using 91 octane for one month and 89 for one month.
My mileage did not improve and I've used 87 octane ever since.

outside temp was ideal around 70-80.

i probably could ve got even better mileage if i was crusin at 70 instead of 80-90? also i am sure that momentary dip to 130 also used a lot of gas...Mine is also automatic transmission so that lower the mpg a little too..

like i said, i was doing 130 with the engine at 4700 rpm so couldve gone faster.... didn't want to risk it plus didn't have premium gas in that time so i backed off....

one thing about GA, gas is definitely cheaper there....

True but who wants to live there.

I had enough of Georgia when I spent 3 months at Fort Gordon.
That was a long time ago but I love New Jersey

NC is where it's at!!!! AND the best BBQ!!! :chuckle:

Best I got in our 05 G35 sedan was 26.75 MPG on a trip with no luggage. Actually, it was my wife. SHe drove about 3 hrs to get our mini aussie 3 years or so ago.
Recently got just over 18 in combined driving in the 08 G35X.
I normally get between 19 and 21 in the 04 G35 coupe mainly in town with a little HW.

Parker's is as good as NC barbecue gets, if you like the traditional non-smoky style. And the cole slaw is great, too. It's over on 301, you have a drive a few miles off 95 to get there, but it's worth the trip. Take it from a Virginian UNC alum who stops there every time he passes through.

No, but will make a note of them. That used to be one of my routes to Chapel Hill, if I was hitchhiking. If driving, taking 86 out of Danville was shorter, but light traffic made hitching iffy. It was the early 70's, not as many ax murdering perverts on the highways then, in case you're wondering about the hitchhiking.

Do you recall the exit number?
The wife likes to stop at the Smithfield Outlet Mall which is exit 95 in NC
I think Wilson is north of Smithfield?
