Hi everyone,Well Wisconsin is getting down to 2 degrees with the possibility of -45 with the windchill. I've used "heat" in other vehicles but wanted to check if it would be safe for the Rogue. Has anyone had any problems with cold weather starting? This is the first year in the bitter cold and I wanted to add the gas line antifreeze, but wanted to know if anyone thought it could harm the vehicle. Thanks!

Gas line antifreeze is mostly methyl or isopropyl alcohol. The function of the alcohol is to mix with the water and keeping from freezing.

But most gasoline is already mixed with ethanol which is a good antifreeze in itself. Adding more alcohol via gas line antifreeze won't hurt, but it may not offer any real benefit if you are using gasoline blended with Ethanol to start with.

BTW, I haven't used gas line antifreeze for years. Never had a gas line or tank freeze on me despite some bitterly cold weather.

This is a relavant topic considering it's winter, and pretty cold in a lot of places so far......I used to hear a lot about this stuff years ago but not so much anymore.

Any opinions or better yet, facts?

As the winter is now upon us, most areas already have their "brand" of winter blend gasoline. I do believe theirs is a mixture of alcohol, in addition to ethanol, in these varieties. One thing to remember with windchill is that it has no effect on inanimate objects....No matter your relationship to your Rogue

Meaning, if it is 0 degrees F and the windchill is -30 degrees F (MAN that's cold) your vehicle will never be colder than the ambient temp. of 0 degrees. The windchill will only shorten the time for your vehicle to get to the ambient state.

Being from NWPA, I really appreciate North Carolina winters
