So I go to Bennigans the other night and come out at like 2:15 and notice there is a pretty good size puddle underneath my car that is not water. Tow the car to work and figure out there is a 1 1/2 inch crack in the gas tank on the passenger side on the top edge just about where your butte would be if you sitting in the rear seat.

I don't want to have spend 400 bucks on a new tank. Question is can I use J-B Weld Water Weld as suggested to me be a local Nissan dealerships parts guy? Has anybody had any good or bad experience with this stuff cause the car is apart and I'm riding my bike to work for now.

In case anybody tries, you can't use J-B Weld or anything else, not even a plastic welding rig worked.... So a new tank is the answer for me. Can't say that nobody might have success any other way.

I do not recomend patching a gas tank just as a matter of principle.

That said I did patch a tank a number of years ago and it worked fine for the remaining 18 months I had the car. Just be sure to use an epoxy that is for gas tanks or stated to be ok for use with fuel. Even then I would avoid filling the tank past the point of the original leak if possible.

Better answer is to get a tank from a junkyyard. Also consider a pump swap while the car is offline.
