Ive bought a 240sx about 2 weeks ago. It hasnt had any problems but i just filled it up and it smelled like gas. I ignored it but i went away for the weekend and when i came back yesterday there was a huge puddle of gas under my car. I looked in the trunk and took off the access plate to the fuel pump and theres gas all around it. Someone put frekin jb weld all over the fuel pump and it looks like its starting to flake off. The gas on the ground has a redish tint. I have looked and the gas tank itself looks ok. the gas seems to be coming from the top. I dont want to buy a new fuel tank. If the car doesnt run for a couple of days it starts ok but idles rough for about a minit. I dont know if this is because the tank has rusted out and the fuel filter cant filter out the rust. Not sure what to do. this is a 1990 240sx with a ka engine

There should be a large o-ring that sits at the top of the fuel tank where the fuel pump assembly gets sealed on. Put in that ring after inspecting that fuel tank for fracture, dents along the top and so on.

I got the fuel pump out.the o ring looks like it doesnt fit. It looked like gas was leaking around it. On the top part can you replace the whole metal piece where the outlet and inlet hoses go in? Its got that fake weld all over it and i believe it is leaking as well. Its where the bolts go through to tighten it in place. Im not sure whether I can buy just this piece or will i have to buy a new fuel pump.
