I have read through-out the forums regarding the gas gauge problem. In the past week, I have been experiencing a slight fluctuation in the gas gauge reading, which during the course of driving, has been changing about 1/4 tank. Did others who experienced the problem have this come on gradually like this or was it an instant problem with the gas gauge staying on full?

mine came on gradually over a two month period -- it would work fine for a week or so, then go nuts... finally, like my ex-wife, it just went nuts all the time.

1. Call Courtney @ Scottsdale Infiniti and buy the Infiniti Elite extended warranty2. Wait a few days - just because3. take your car in to the dealer and tell them about the gas gauge problem -- and that it just started showing up!

The ONLY cure is to R&R the instrument cluster (they do NOT recalibrate it...) Figure on a free loaner (part of that Elite Warranty) and 24 to 48 hours to get the new unit in from Infiniti/CALI - they have to program in your old odometer reading into the new unit and then pull the old and install the new.

You MIGHT convince the Service Manager to do this for free without the warranty, but it seems to be a 50/50 proposition. No questions asked however if you have the warranty.

the warranty is in effect the day you buy it, BTW. The zero deductable may be your best bet if you already have this issue to help pay back the $150 difference in the fee.

In the meantime, use your trip odo and reset it when you fill up. then to be safe, just refill every 250 miles, reset and do it again.
